Mainz and the Garbage Cans

As we leave Mainz, I am still in awe of the city I did not think would amaze me so much. The city is a hidden gem that contains a large amount of history. Obviously Gutenberg.

Let me give you a timeline of our short time here: Sunday we arrived around 2 in the afternoon, checked in to our hotel, and set off on a walking tour of the city. In the tour we visited the cathedral, and appreciated all the Christmas lights that had been left up! After our tour was over, we split up to go to dinner. Our group decided to go get some classic German Wiener schnitzel! When our delicious meal was over we headed back to our hotel for a good night’s rest.

We were all too rudely awaken at an ungodly hour in the morning, by the garbage cans being thrown around outside our hotel window. Everyone tried to go back to sleep, but eventually everyone came down to breakfast. After we gouged ourselves the group headed over to the Gutenberg museum. There we were able to do a little printing of our own with a printing press!
