We left Paris early this morning and our currently on our way to Mainz. The French countryside is gorgeous and helps our 6 hour drive go by much easier. Emily and I are going to try and do a Wrap-up after we leave each city, and so we start with Paris, one of my favorite cities in the world.
I was so excited that we were given free reign to go wherever we wanted for a large portion of the trip. We were able to hit the musee de art et metiers, the Christmas Fair, Monets paintings, and get a front row center view of the Mona Lisa! All while dodging the huge crowds of yellow vests by ducking through numerous alleys. We were lucky that we seemed to miss most of the riots that broke out, safely tucked in the maze of the Louvre. However, we definitely heard the sirens and saw police lights all day long. I would also like to give a quick shoutout to Visitation Academy for teaching me enough French that I could converse at restaurants and some locals. I will miss understanding the language now that we’re crossing the border to Germany.
I think what I’ll miss the most about Paris was just wandering around the streets and finding hidden gems in courtyards and cobblestone streets. There’s such a rich history in Paris and everywhere you turn is a more gorgeous sight than the last. That being said I’m so excited to be heading to Germany and can’t wait to really start braving the cold.
