Ah, Nuremberg. Some highs and lows but a gorgeous city.
After checking into our hotel we wandered into the old city, which is surrounded by the original edifices of the old city. After settling into a quiet pub with wonderful weisswurst, we played some cards and went to bed.
Then things took a turn.
My lovely roommate Emily decided that now was a good time to get a stomach bug, and was subsequently sick all night. 🙂 There was no sleep had by anyone that night. In all honestly I’m glad she’s okay now, she’s a super trooper.
Nuremberg was also full of day trips such as seeing the Nazi Parade Grounds, which were horrifying, and a full-day trip to Munich. We saw the spot of the terrorist attack on the Israeli olympians at the Munich 1972 Olympics, the BMW headquarters, and wandered around the gorgeous city. I was pretty much in heaven, even though the wind and snow made it almost unbearably cold. The train ride back was exhausting for everyone, and Dr. Hatcher and Dr. Landesberg made sure to embrace the time for a nap.
Back in Nuremberg there was an amazing ice cream shop, and my personal favorite, karaoke. It’s safe to say that the Elon Gutenbergers brought the House down!
I wish we could have toured the building where the Nuremberg Trials took place, but I guess that just means enjoying another trip some day in the future.
